Property Lawyer, Anderson Lloyd

The highlight of working at Anderson Lloyd is being able to engage in meaningful and diverse work while being supported by wonderful colleagues.

What kind of work have you been involved with at Anderson Lloyd?

I began my journey at Anderson Lloyd as a winter clerk in the Corporate Commercial team. I’m now a solicitor in the Property and Private Client team and assist clients in all areas of property law, including estate planning, establishment and administration of trusts, relationship property agreements, conveyancing and commercial leasing.

What do you enjoy most about working at Anderson Lloyd?

The highlight of working at Anderson Lloyd is being able to engage in meaningful and diverse work while being supported by wonderful colleagues. No two days are ever the same, and there is something to learn from every file. I enjoy acquiring new knowledge and skills every day and the feeling of constantly growing. The work is also highly rewarding because I get to assist people in structuring and managing their personal affairs.

What has been the most challenging part of working at Anderson Lloyd?

For me, working at Anderson Lloyd has been an enjoyable experience. You learn a lot as a Summer Clerk and you are supported from day one.  When challenges do come up the senior lawyers are always happy to answer any questions. There are also lots of resources and precedents to work from, so you would never be asked to draft something completely from scratch.

What sets Anderson Lloyd apart from other firms?

The team at Anderson Lloyd feels like family and the workplace feels like home. The people and the culture at Anderson Lloyd make it a fun and comfortable environment to work in. The firm also highly values the well-being of its staff, and this was demonstrated in the way they managed the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. The firm allowed flexible working arrangements and always tried to find the best solution to meet each individual‘s concerns and circumstances

What are the social opportunities like at Anderson Lloyd?

One thing you don’t have to worry about at Anderson Lloyd is missing out on social activities. There is something for everyone, whether it be lantern-making workshops, movie night, Friday nibbles and drinks, or the Christmas party at the end of the year. I’m always surprised at how quickly my calendar fills up with social events and I’m incredibly grateful to the Social Committee for the hard work they put into these events to ensure that we have fun!

What has surprised you about working at Anderson Lloyd?

Working at Anderson Lloyd turned out to be very different to what I had imagined. I was expecting it to be a fast-paced and high-stress environment as depicted in Suits, but to my pleasant surprise, I discovered that working as a lawyer can be enjoyable and rewarding. I was also surprised by the amount of food we are fed at Anderson Lloyd. There is always a reason to have morning tea and you can never be hungry when you are working here.
